Despite Big Tobacco, winning smoke-free restaurants
In 2007, Maryland PIRG Foundation and Maryland PIRG Citizen Lobby helped lead the campaign to make all Baltimore workplaces, including restaurants and bars, smoke-free. Passage of this legislation at the city level proved to be the tipping point for state-wide public health legislation that is estimated to save the lives of 1,000 Marylanders each year and cut health care costs by $600 million.
We're calling on big restaurant chains to stop the overuse of antibiotics on factory farms. Tell KFC to stop serving meat raised on routine antibiotics.
Your donation supports Maryland PIRG's work to stand up for consumers on the issues that matter, especially when powerful interests are blocking progress.
